Aggressive tyre patterns, more horsepower and axle diff locks, not to mention a good dose of 'one upmanship' can result is standard driveline breakages. These days, heavy duty shafts and CV joints are as standard as a raised air intake. Space is limited within standard axles to increase the size of half shafts and CV joints so the only option is to increase the material specification and heat treatment processes.

Both front and rear half shafts are made from an alloy steel with a high percentage of nickel-chromoly-molybdenum, SAE4340. To be both heavy duty and give a high degree of elasticity shafts and CVs passed through a 3-stage heat treatment process. These properties mean the half shafts are far stronger and kinder to the rest of the drive line particularly the differentials and transfer box.

CV Joints have always been the most critical component of all the drive train, also machined from the SAE4340 chromoly material, they are tougher and more resistant to shock load. Raptor CV joints have been developed to incorporate a 30mm centre with 23 splines and must be combined with the equivalent heavy-duty shafts.

HD half shafts and CV joints are covered by a 5yr limited warranty, subject to authorisation and maximum tyre diameter is 35".
